 | Your Options You have three options when choosing your character: humans, werewolves, and demiwolves. If you pick a human character, they can become a werewolf via roleplay later on if they are bitten by a werewolf during a full moon. There are three werewolf packs: Lacuna, Umbra, and Aura. Werewolves and demiwolves can join a pack via roleplay, or belong to no pack and be a rogue. Humans cannot join a pack; they can only visit them. The Differences Between Werewolves and Demiwolves. Werewolves are created by one of two means: you are either bitten on the night of a full moon or you are born to two werewolf parents. Demiwolves are created by one method only: being born to one werewolf parent and one human parent. Since most humans are unaware of the existence of werewolves, demiwolves are much rarer than werewolves. A demiwolf cannot turn a human by biting them. Demiwolves share the same weaknesses as werewolves; silver and decapitation are the means for killing them. Since they are half human, they tend to be more empathetic to the plight of humans. They are also more in control of their transformative state, even during the full moon. Werewolves, on the other hand, are more prone to primal tendencies during the full moon. Since demiwolves are part human, their wolf state tends to be smaller and weaker than that of werewolves. A strong demiwolf could prevail against a weaker werewolf, but your average werewolf is going to outmatch your average demiwolf in direct one-on-one combat. What happens if a demiwolf mates with a human or a werewolf? Their offspring will always be demiwolves. Only two werewolf parents can create werewolf offspring and only two human parents can create human offspring. |
 | Creating Your Character When you are creating a character that is a werewolf, please choose pictures of wolves for the "wolf" form of your werewolf. If you are creating a demiwolf, use pictures of wolfish canies. For example, pictures of Siberian/Alaskan Huskies, Tamaskans, Northern Inuit Dogs, and Alaskan Malamutes are all acceptable breeds to use. If you are unsure if your picture is acceptable for a werewolf or a demiwolf, feel free to contact an admin for assistance. The top four pictures on this thread are examples of acceptable photos to use for a werewolf form. The bottom four pictures on this thread are examples of acceptable photos to use for a demiwolf form. The general reason for this is that it makes differentiating between werewolves and demiwolves easier. The maximum height for a werewolf in wolf form on HOWL is 3'8" (paw-to-shoulder), length is 6'6" (head-to-tail). The maximum height for a demiwolf in wolf form is 3'0" and length is 5'10". Werewolves and demiwolves age similarly to the common wolf from birth until adulthood. A young werewolf/demiwolf will reach full growth by 1 year. Once werewolves and demiwolves reach adulthood, they become "immortal." They will cease to age and won't die unless they are killed with silver or by decapitation. Their human forms will also appear to be young adults. If a human is bitten by a werewolf during a full moon, they will be immortalized in whatever age they were at the time of being bitten. For example, if a human is 35 when they are bitten, their human form will appear to be 35 for the rest of their existence. If a human is 10 when they are bitten, they will appear to be 10 in their human form for the rest of their existence. However, biting a human before they reach adulthood is considered a vile act by most werewolves and often punishable by death. |
